Object of the week

French school of the second half of the 17th century, The Baptism of Christ

This week, we dive into the 17th century, with a painting on a religious subject, but which goes far beyond its subject: the painter, who looked at Charles Le Brun, First Painter to King Louis XIV, offers us a very readable composition, in two registers, but above all offers us a masterful harmony of rather rare colors, a diversity of expressions of the protagonists. What we love is the deep spirituality reached by the painter, which is beyond Christianity alone, which reaches the human in each of us, and this happiness of painting that the painter shows us.

As a result, this painting has its place in your home, because it is a great lesson in painting.

Consult the product sheet for more information:

– Mix and Match; with what to mix and tune its objects.
