Object of the week

Daum crystal, pair of Sirius lamps, 1952 model

This week, we present to you a very rare pair of lamps that are as simple as they are refined: the Sirius model crystal lamp, from Daum. The model was created by Michel Daum in 1952: the latter accomplished a revolution in the crystal art: like Maurice Marinot, but on a much larger scale, he brought the crystal material to perfection: the clarity of the paste, combined with the virtuosity of the master glassmakers, has made it possible to create masterpieces: here, a refined ovoid base is magnified by a large and powerful frieze of stylized plant motifs: suddenly the light plays according to the different ways in which the crystal is worked: the Daum house locks in and restores the light: the crystal is light! Obviously copied, this new way of looking at crystal has a profound impact on our way of understanding it: very typical of the 1950s, this lamp has in fact become timeless!

It is very rare to find a pair of exactly the same size, always wonderful to create a beautiful symmetrical decoration: it is really the French refinement, which integrates into all interiors because it is as refined as simple! With their off white cotton lamp shades, they are elegant and refined!!
