Object of the week
Daum, Crystal lamp with plexiglass lampshade, circa1960/ 1970
This week, a very special lamp, from a limited production series, very typical of the 1960s/1970s and of the great Daum house!
Indeed, Daum had the brilliant idea of combining a crystal lamp base, archetypal of its production around 1960, with a translucent white and silver Plexiglas lampshade!
Two very different materials, one, glass, extremely ancient (dating back to Antiquity), and the other, Plexiglas, avant-garde, still little used in high-end decor around 1960…
The lamp base has the perfection of Daum, a pear or drop shape, but deceptively flat, full of cut and angled facets, hollows and reliefs, allowing the light to sing as it disperses!
The lampshade is elliptical in shape and, above all, features a dual material, translucent white and opaque silver: the amusing assembly in the form of four curved slats held by large chrome screw covers is extremely refined, and the projected light is truly unique.
A masterpiece you should not miss!
