Object of the week

Adrian Pearsall (1925-2011) for Craft Associates – Pair of armchairs with cruciform base – circa 1960

This week, we present to you a very interesting pair of armchairs from the 60s: the material of their cruciform base, resin coated with black and gold projected bronze, is very modern, and contrasts with the off-white velvet covering of the seat block, whose geometry is softened. This gives a very surprising silhouette of a wading bird, an exotic bird, as well as great comfort!

This resin coated with bronze technique was mastered only by Adrian Pearsall and Paul Evans.

Note that the creator is one of the great American designers of the 50s and 60s, Adrian Pearsall, whose work is as recognized as that of Vladimir Kagan, Paul Evans or George Nakashima!

Pearsall created a small line of furniture using resin coated with bronze including chairs, table, bar, sofa, not far from the creations of Paul Evans!

As a result, there are few examples of these armchairs in Europe: be original!
