Description

What I like

I like the typical bias of the great decoration of the 70s of polychromy, black, bronze patina and metal in matt gray color, the very graphic bias of the hollowed out rectangle and of course the levitating sculpture. The abstract motifs can be considered purely abstract and typical of the large bas-reliefs animating the entrances of luxury buildings of the time, or reveal a taste for Asian art: a simple lamp foot reminds us of all the fantasy of eighteenth-century Chinese taste, brought up to date again and again,  since that period of glory. Even the very small offset in the junction of the metal blade with bronze patina is charming and probably denotes a craftsmanship.

Technique

Lamp foot in metal with bronze patina, metal and black lacquered wood.  It consists of a rectangular stepped base in black lacquered wood, on which rests a metal blade with bronze patina forming a hollowed-out rectangle surmounted by a cylinder housing the socket. The rectangle has in its center, levitating, a black parallelepiped centered by a metal plate with abstract patterns in relief.

Work from the 1970s.

Small missing at the top of the socket, without damage to the operation of this lamp. Light oxidation points.

Mix & Match

This lamp with original and refined polychromy integrates all interiors: the contribution of the plate forming abstract sculpture allows it to slip into the environments of the 30s, 60s or 70s, or into a more contemporary universe. But the reminder of the chinoiserie of past centuries invites him to marry with antique furniture, in refined and chic touch.

The creator

I do not know him but he has retained his classics, from the chinoiseries of the eighteenth century, to the fantasized China of the 30s.

Adept of classic chic, but revisited by abstraction, he plays with the mixture of materials and colors.

The publisher

In view of the manufacturing details, I think it is a small artisanal production, probably not a mass-produced model
