What I like

I like this painting, large enough in size to accommodate this large off-center pattern in a blue rounded rectangle, animated by variations on the circle and the semi-circle in blue glass and its sunny yellow center. The elements are all different, but the artist has achieved a kind of mantra, of dynamic balance, with this incredible energy concentrated in this strong yellow sun center. We are here in front of a beautiful work of pure geometric abstraction: moreover it is exactly dated 1971 and made in Milan, as the mention on the back attests.

Delima Medeiros painted this painting during the great period of geometric abstraction: we of course think of the works of Edgard Pillet, André Bloc, Jean Dewasne but also Vasarrely: our artist belongs to this very strong current which crosses the avant-garde -garde and which is represented in France by large galleries, including that of Denise René.

I like the fact that, as in the great successes of lyrical abstraction, looking at this work for a long time, we are first energized by the color, before being soothed by the underlying harmony of the composition.

Mix & Match

This painting is a concentrate of energy and color: it will illuminate all interiors, even if they are furnished with antique furniture! Its astonishing colorful dynamism and its lively palette will also match furniture designed from the 1930s to the present day.

Of course, it will light up the large office of the Banque de France with its blue, green and yellow, it will play with the peacock blue of our G10 armchairs by Pierre Guariche; its brighter green will happily combine with the green of the Adirondack armchairs revisited by Philippe Parent. But it will also rub shoulders with the virginal white of Gae Aulenti’s Orsay living room, awaken metallic furniture with colorful reflections such as the bar table by Lodovico Acerbis, the Italian Cylindres coffee table in chrome metal, or play with the more lyrical abstract decor of our table by Julien de Covemaeker!

Finally it will be reflected in the glass and mirror of our large dining room table produced by Gallotti&Radice, and the series of four low chairs from the 1980s in thermoformed and purple-tinted wood will contribute to a colorful and playful atmosphere.

Finally, of course, on the walls we can place it in dialogue with the Composition by Edgard Pillet, a member of the same school, with the large tapestry with flat colored areas, Nuit d’Espagne by Daniel de LINERE, also around 1970!

On the toher handhe will play on oppositions in a constructive way with our two works by Guillaume Leunens: the painting “Viffer-Vipère-1969” or the monumental sculpture “Colonnes-1966”, which concentrate on the work on metal and its mat aspect.

The painter

Artist born in Recife, Brazil in 1935, part of the generation of diffusion of modernism, his work is made of bright colors with geometric patterns reminiscent of the design of the 50s in Brazil. The abstract movement was launched during the Sao Paulo Biennale in 1951. He developed work linked to geometric abstraction.

Lenine Delima Medeiros studied at the University of Pernambuco and in 1960 obtained a scholarship in Paris in the workshop of Johny Friedlander, attended by Vieira da Silva, Zoran Music, Zao Wou Ki, Nicolas de Stael, Arthur-Luis Piza, Servulo Esmeraldo. He is invited to the Venice Biennale in special room No. 35. He spent 19 years in Europe. Then he returned to Rio de Janeiro, where he organized numerous exhibitions and settled in Recife in 1980.

A beautiful and authentic painting at a fair price

This “Geometric Abstraction” by Delima Medeiros was carefully selected for its aesthetic qualities, its originality and its fair price. Our choice favors above all the acuity of the creativity of a painting, its inscription in a current, the geometric abstraction so typical of its period of creation, the 1970s, a guarantee of an enhancement of your new acquisition in your interior and an ability to interact with your furniture, to match and mix to create a unique decoration.

Buying works of geometric abstraction is surely a reasonable investment, such is the appetite for this movement.

Finally, buying works of art from the 1970s preserves the resources of planet Earth.
