Loriot modernist square mirror, circa 1980
Description
What I like
What I love about this mirror is that its extremely artistic design does not deprive it of its usefulness: yes, it is easy to admire yourself in this square with such a beautiful decor.
Indeed, what rhythm Guy Loriot was able to give to this simple mirror: nothing superfluous here: clear mirror, smoked mirror, and a very beautiful design, looking towards the modernist creations of the UAM years around 1930, revived by a Meilleur Ouvrier de France at its zenith!
The rhythm given by the bursting of the smoked round mirror into 3 unequal parts is calmed by the elegant layout around the straight lines painted on the clear mirror. The slight volume introduced by the presence of two layers of mirror creates a surprise, but the whole is finally stable: the circle will reform, we are far from bursting!
As a result, the look in the mirror is a renewed pleasure every morning…

Mix & Match
This original modernist mirror will be ideally associated with straight lines (its square shape, the double cross) and round shapes (the split circle): that leaves a lot of possibilities!!
Obviously, we will think of it to liven up an Art Deco decor, as a more modern touch. But above all, furniture from the 1970s and 1980s will make him happy!
I am thinking of the white furniture by Gae Aulenti, the Orsay model that she developed in the mid-1970s: their purity meets the classicism of our mirror. But also the pep of the pair of white lacquered metal low chairs with big orange cushions from the pop years!
On the wall, why not dare the dynamism of the colors so bright developed in his painting Alternance by Bernard Tulula
Not far away, a coffee table will accommodate the Pyramid-High Society lamp by Tonello and Montagna Grillo, to accentuate the metallic side of the universe. Or, in a similar spirit, the beautiful felice antonio botta lamp, in smoked plexiglass and chromed metal.
